Variety Welcomes New Family Resource Center for Autism Director

Marissa Tabak comes to Variety with several years of both professional and personal experience in the autism community.  Her professional experience began in 2001 as an ABA Instructor with the South Carolina Early Autism Project, Inc.  After graduating from Brigham Young University, Marissa worked at Elwyn SEEDS in Philadelphia for three years as an Autistic Support Service Coordinator.  At Elwyn, Marissa worked with hundreds of families whose children were recently diagnosed with autism.  She coordinated their child’s early intervention program, connected them to community resources, and provided on-going case management and support.  She worked closely with Elwyn’s autism-specific service providers such as Archworks, H.E.A.R.T., and Elwyn’s new program, Seedlings.  Marissa is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Education at Arcadia University.

Marissa’s personal experiences with autism date back to childhood.  She has a 14 year-old brother, Sam, with autism and he has played an essential role in the person that she is today. Marissa’s proudest professional achievement so far is as the creator and facilitator of Elwyn Seedlings’ SibClub - a support group for brothers and sisters of persons with autism.   Marissa is very excited to be a part of the team at Variety!
